Tape Lamp DIY

Designer: Transparent House, Inc

Everyone is always searching for ways to showcase uniqueness while avoiding crossing the line of absurdity. Transparent House, Inc has come up with an object for the household that does just that in an easy DIY fashion. The Tape Lamp is individual and classy. It’s a lamp made with 100 micro cassettes and fitted with a 40 watt Large G-16 globe, which is a tribute to 80′s kitsch style. To purchase the lamp, you’d be looking at spending about $1,200 USD, however, it’s rumored to cost under $100 USD to make.

Hoptimist Identity Design Ups Its Recognition

Designer: The Attention Agency (Me Me Me)

The creative minds at Me Me Me have come up with a new identity for Hoptimist, the once almost forgotten name for past colorful figures created by Gustav Ehrenreich. The crazy figures first made their appearance in the 1970s and took pride in being well spirited, well designed representations of Danish culture. Now they’re back it seems…

Zabeel’s Blooming In The Wind

Designer: Mekene Architecture

Dubai is known for some crazy architectural ambitions, so here’s another concept that’s insane, but insanely awesome and potentially realistic. The main contributions of this spectacle would be water collection and natural energy via wind and vibration. You can see this is all possible through the modern leaf-like structure element throughout. Read the rest of the technology and service behind this project here.

Ecoball Sound

Designer: Pedro Gomes

I’ve featured work by Pedro Gomes before so I’ll do it again because, again, I love Gomes’ projects. The Ecoball is a sweet alternative to hearing music on the go. The portable ball splits into two, revealing speakers and a volume control. The more interesting aspect is that the ball has the option of solar charging via the panels integrated into the carry strap. As with any device, it will sync with most music gadgets effortlessly. Love the simplicity!

UXUS Office’s New Look

Designer: UXUS

The theme for UXUS’s new offic decor is inspired by the rich visual world of Fables. Both the fairytale location of its Art-Nouveau/Ne-Gothic office tower at the crossing of two major Amsterdam canals, and the design agency’s penchant for the mysterious and poetic atmosphere of old and new Fables, influenced the look and feel of the space in which their imaginations roam. This environment will surely foster powerful, unforgettable stories.
