Jérôme Berthemet

Designer: Jérôme Berthemet

Paris based graphic artist and art director Jérôme Berthemet has been working as a freelancer since 2006, producing works spanning just about everything related to print design, and even some web work. Jérôme’s type treatments are quite nice, particularly on the various album covers that have graced Jérôme’s imagination in recent years.

Mossy Alphabet

Designer: Ooli Mos

Many might think of moss and lichens as ordinary things found in nature without a whole lot to offer, particularly visually. But some people also believe characters of the alphabet are boring and simple as well. We as designers know that’s surely not the case. So who’s to say moss can’t be interesting? Ooli Mos (funny how the last name fits the project) teaches us that these natural beings may not be as magnificent as the foliage surrounding them but they can still have a story to tell. Not to mention moss is older than any human alphabet or written language!

STONIX

Designer: Miguel Bencomo

How awesome are these characters?! Playful, blatant, and styled in a unique fashion.

Against the Grain

Designer: 123Klan

Having spent this past weekend in Cape Cod, Mass, I found myself doing what I usually do when visiting the coast: eating great food, spending hours on a beach, and searching for awesome surf and skate shops. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I have a real love for boarding and surfing. As always, the month of May just makes me want to break out my longboard. So it pleases me on this Monday morning to see yet another awesome piece of inspiration having to do with skateboards. Hydro74 invitied 123 Klan to send over three skateboard designs and two laser engraved pieces (by Karvt). These boards are simply awesome pieces of design. What I enjoy most is the sole use of black. It allows for the wood itself to take the role of a primary color and really adds a boldness to the overall compositions. You can check out these pieces and others from talented artists such as Julie West and Munk One at the 1am Gallery in San Francisco (opening May 6th).

Spheres

Designer: Zutto

I’m not sure of this Russian artist’s full name but Zutto definitely knows what they’re doing when it comes to creating interesting illustrative compilations. Each piece in Zutto’s ‘Spheres’ series illustrates fantasy worlds all confined to spherical shapes. The colors are awesome while the fluid movements of elements and shapes are fresh and intriguing.
