Four Fifths Design

Inspiration for the Creative Mind

2012 Audi A7 Papercraft

Designer: Taras Lesko

This concept began with a clean sheet of paper. Using photos and drawings of the Audi A7, Taras designed 750 pieces of model stock which was printed, folded, and glued together with laser printers, desktop cutters, glue, etc. More than 250 hours later, Taras had a bold creation that would prove to be spot on to what was initially envisioned.

Fer & Nora Guest Invitation

Designer: Le Caja De Tipos

What does one do to make a wedding invitation more exciting? Naturally, wedding invitations are exciting in emotion, but the physical nature of the invitation is often chained by print and it’s materials. Le Caja De Tipos, a Spanish design studio, took the idea of an invitation and incorporated physical interactivity. They’ve created an invitation in two parts, the top part which is a series of micro-perforated circles that can be punch out, and the bottom part which is the wedding data and traditional information. Like popping air bubbles on bubble wrap material, this punching of holes is oddly enjoyable. The most clever part is the result. All the punched holes you use to make your design are to then be reused as confetti at the wedding: an instant of gratification to top off the subtle satisfaction of manipulating a wedding invitation to your liking.

Spheres

Designer: Zutto

I’m not sure of this Russian artist’s full name but Zutto definitely knows what they’re doing when it comes to creating interesting illustrative compilations. Each piece in Zutto’s ‘Spheres’ series illustrates fantasy worlds all confined to spherical shapes. The colors are awesome while the fluid movements of elements and shapes are fresh and intriguing.

Another Dutch Sensation

Designer: Marius Roosendaal

Okay, so maybe you might not think these works are ‘sensational’ but I do. Dutch graphic designer Marius Roosendaal has created a plethora of awesome imagery that seems to blend retro with future, and geometry with texture, almost perfectly. Much of the work done by Marius reminds me of artists such as Scott Hansen (ISO50), Simon Page, and James White.

Emotive Photography

Designer: Luis Beltran

This small set of photographs comes from the Spanish photographer Luis Beltran. Each manipulation (assuming) is evocative and expresses a fantastical emotion. The use of color, or lack of – depending, makes for beautiful surrealism and environmental distortion.
