Minx Creative’s Promotional Package

Designer: Minx Creative

It’s always hard designing for yourself…I especially know that as I’ve been in the redesign process for what seems like forever. But Minx Creative is a prime example of successful promotion of design skills through design itself. Minx obviously has put time and an amazing amount of work into ensuring their skills are well represented. They’ve done this by creating a promotional book that passed through the hands of everyone at the studio. Its intention is to grab the attention of prospective clients Minx has come to like and pursue. Needless to say, the design of the book itself is simply awesome!

Maaemo’s Restaurant Brand

Designer: Ludvig Bruneau Rossow

I wonder if Maaemo’s food is as tasty as their brand’s aesthetic? Maaemo is an ecological gourmet restaurant based in Oslo, Norway, specializing in Scandinavian food. It’s owner is Norwegian, its cook is Danish and its sommelier is Finnish – truly a Scandinavian collaboration. The design however is heavily inspired by nature and architecture. Its aesthetic reflects on the notions of lines, shapes, rhythms and poetic, Nordic modernism.

& SMITH’s Newest Additions

Designer: & SMITH

For those who don’t know, & SMITH is a small, independent design studio who creates work that encompasses identity, branding, print, web…well, just about everything. You may remembering having seen their work featured before as I was caught up in how quaint and crafty their pieces were. Over the past year, they’ve produced several new pieces that continue the tradition of intimacy and attention to detail in the various mediums ranging from packaging to web.

More Information Design by Christoph Almasy

Designer: Christoph Almasy

I’m on an infographics kick. This past week, for whatever reason, I’ve been finding and falling deeply in love with various information designers and their work. I was told once by a professor that information design is one of the hardest things to do well,  that it is just as difficult if not more than identity design – that which many would argue is the most difficult. Christoph Almasy is another designer whose infographics are fantastic. However Almasy isn’t strictly bound to information. Almasy’s work spans editorial design, identity design, exhibition design and more. But here’s one fine example of some awesome information.

Information Is Beautiful

Designer: Martin Oberhäuser.

I’ve recently been getting more and more fascinated by information design. Maybe it’s the cleanliness or the necessity to simply chaotic or overwhelming abundances of information. Or maybe it’s the information itself that’s being portrayed. Or just maybe it’s the idea that any information, even seemingly useless information, can become intriguing and decently meaningful – even emotional – if presented in a well designed manner. Nevertheless, I always referred to Nicholas Felton when giving advice for information inspiration. Now I’ve come across another designer – Martin Oberhäuser. Oberhäuser has harvested and presented information for names ranging from BMW to Adidas. Oberhäuser is certainly now a top choice for inspiration in my book.
