Four Fifths Design

Inspiration for the Creative Mind

The Creative Direction of Ramiro Torres

Designer: Ramiro Torres

I came across the really cool Zune Brand Mantras, some creative posters done under the direction of Ramiro Torres. The type is really engaging and the compositions are quite appealing. Outside of this series, Torres has done a ton of other work for the Microsoft Zune brand.

Russ Mills’ Character Explosions

Designer: Russ Mills

For those who have followed Four Fifths Design since its start in 2008, the following works may be familiar to you. I featured Russ Mills‘ works awhile back as the style to these works of art were simply inspiring to me. Now I bring you more from the artist. Mills continues to incorporate styles from classical pop surrealism, focusing predominantly on the human form while abstracting elements from elsewhere in the animal kingdom. Again, I’m mostly attracted due to the aesthetic appeal these pieces create, but look deeper and you’ll be reminded that Mills is dealing with superficiality, isolation, and socio-political expressions, among many other things.

Ecoball Sound

Designer: Pedro Gomes

I’ve featured work by Pedro Gomes before so I’ll do it again because, again, I love Gomes’ projects. The Ecoball is a sweet alternative to hearing music on the go. The portable ball splits into two, revealing speakers and a volume control. The more interesting aspect is that the ball has the option of solar charging via the panels integrated into the carry strap. As with any device, it will sync with most music gadgets effortlessly. Love the simplicity!

N1ko Illustrations

Designer: N1ko

I haven’t quite found out exactly who N1ko is but I do know he/she is a fantastic French illustrator. The meshing of geometric shape, color and abstraction is phenomenal in this series of ‘monsters’.

The Lux Project

Designer: SILO

The Lux Project is an ongoing series of mash-ups featuring the characters ‘Lux’ and ‘Drax’ by British artist/designer SILO. This particular section of pieces shows the development and artwork for a limited print edition presenting various styles from Silo-Studios. I absolutely adore this style simply because it approaches an end of the spectrum I’ve personally never been able to get at.
