Four Fifths Design

Inspiration for the Creative Mind

A World Beyond Our Own

Designer: Leong Huang Zi

This is truly insane, in a good way. Leong Huang Zi grew up dreaming of distant futures and foreign life forms. The future has always been the driving force for Zi’s imagination. Now, after years of conceptualization, Zi has put together not only concepts but stories and characters for what the future could hold. I’ve included the foot notes provided by Zi in reference to some of the shots.

UMSC Scouts Division. Federation scouts often have the most dangerous jobs. Their role as terrain scouts means going out alone in one of these single seater pods and flying as far as the horizon allows them to. With no defensive capabilities, they are exposed and vulnerable most of the time. Despite the dangers, UMSC Federation Scouts see  their role in discovering new lands and terrain as their calling. They are the first to arrive, the first to discover, the first to experience the vastness of our distant world before the fleet arrives.
UMSC Gunship. The backbone of the federation. Similar in design to the ARC (Ariel Rescue Chopper), the gunship provides cover and protection for the fleet.

Human Nature Calendar

Designer: Staci Korske

This brilliantly designed calendar is supposed to represent the cycle of man’s manipulations of nature. It visualizes the harvest cycle for the state of Rhode Island, depicting which crops are available at which time of year. Weighing in at 36″x46″, the size is great. The typeface used is Gill Sans regular. And lastly, the purple and gray color scheme…well it’s quite nice. I believe purple should be used more often…
