James Warfield

Designer: James Warfield
James Warfield is the creative director at Un.titled in the UK, who’s work seems to move flawlessly from online to offline and back for clients such as Mac User Mag, Speedo, MTV, VH1, Puma and IBM among others.

Hidden Moves

Designer: Rhys Owens
Hidden Moves is the toy box of Welsh artist and designer Rhys Owens. Available are prints, apparel and a whole lot of inspiration. Rhys’ works often revolve around surreal characters and environments, created through illustration, photography and digital 3D, and I must say, the aesthetic quality of the work is some of the cleanest I’ve seen in some time. That or I’m just a sucker for black and white…

Bad Ass Creatures

Designer: Josh Finkle
I am personally excited to feature industrial designer Josh Finkle and his new series ‘Extinct Toys’ because not only are the toys themselves beautifully crafted but the packaging they are packed in illustrate the creation of the creature itself. Josh Finkle is an amazing illustrator, and has been from a young age. Josh’s love for design has carried over into university study at Carnegie Mellon where he currently is a student. Lastly, I must mention…I graduated high school with Josh and have known him for years now. His work has always been pleasing to look at!

Thank You

I want to personally thank all my readers, and especially those who decided to visit Four Fifths Design the past 10 days. Thanks to you I’ve raised a solid amount of money (upwards of $100) to send to Haiti victims!

Cheers,
Patrick Branigan

Publications To Look Into

Designer: Various
I thought I would share with you a three publications us designers may find attractive on more of the art, gallery based side of things. Head over to Creative Review for more information!

First up is the beautifully produced hardback tome called, coincidentally enough, Stuff We Really Like – a 785 page exploration by design studio Music of, well, stuff they really like…

Next is the group exhibition, If You Could Collaborate. Organized by Alex Bec and Will Hudson – the dynamic duo behind previous If You Could exhibitions and publications – and the pair also founded the rather lovely blog, It’s Nice That. Rather than simply show the work of the exhibition, the book’s 310 pages include profiles on all the included artists and interviews with them about the work they created specially for the show and of the collaborative processes involved in making the works.

Lastly, The Catlin Guide is a new publication funded by Catlin Insurance company that collects together profiles of 40 up and coming artists selected by curator, gallerist and art writer Justin Hammond.
