Yong Joo Kim Jewelry

Designer: Yong Joo Kim
Recent MFA graduate Yong Joo Kim explores the value of usually mundane objects by using them to create unique jewelry pieces that bring out their hidden beauty. By reconfiguring objects such as beans and cable ties, she introduces the viewer to a new way of looking at these seemingly insignificant materials and brings to mind the questions pertaining to the definition of value.

HTC Evolve

Designer: Timur Pinar
It’s a concept tablet computer that features a “concave side” ergonomic body design. It Features a stylus pen that will help to draw and execute renders in a practical and efficient way, especially if you use programs like Alias Sketchbook pro or Adobe Photoshop. An extra OLED touch screen with pre-programmable buttons pops out from the left side of the tablet, adding to the functionality.

Features include:

  • Intel Atom
  • Touchscreen
  • 128 GB SSD, 1.5 GB of RAM and runs a custom skinned version of Android OS.
  • Possibility of incorporating a version of the fast booting, recently introduced Chrome OS for quick usage purposes.
  • Two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack on its right side.
  • A camera and microphone are also located in the front bezel for video communication.

Adam Voorhes Exploded

Designer: I’m not exactly sure how I would describe Adam Voorhes‘ work, but he would tell you he’s a photographer. No doubt the majority of Adam’s projects revolve around the photographic medium, however I find some of Adam’s work just as relevant to graphic design. A good example is this series: “Exploded”.

Antero Nuutinen Skate Decks

Designer: Antero Nuutinen
Antero Nuutinen is a designer from Finland whose illustrative designs are fabulous. However, I came across Nuutinen’s skate deck designs, and as a longboarder myself, I fell in love.

Philco PC

Designer: SchultzeWORKS Design Studio
The Philco PC here is reminiscent of the 1954 design classic Philco Predicta. Indulge in it for the aesthetic value, as for the specs…yea it does host Windows 7. But then again we’re here for the love of design, specs can take a hike for the moment!
