OFFF 2008 : AARON KOBLIN
by Patrick Branigan

OFFF 2008 COUNTDOWN
AARON KOBLIN
Young and aspiring is just the tip of the iceberg. Aaron Koblin is trying to do it all…and he’s succeeding. With an MFA in Media Arts out of UCLA, Koblin looks deeper into the arts of graphic and media design than most others. He is an artist, a designer, a researcher and innovator. Using information, data, code, systems (chem, bio, informatic, physicaal etc), he searches to bring out visualization and creation that relates to the network of humans and human interaction. Noticed early on in his academic career, Aaron has continuously raised question and awareness about the connection between human system and art and design. Some of his work may make no sense yet some of it may make for brilliance. Airplane patterns creates Stamen’s ‘Cabspotting’…Sheep Market exploits Amazon’s ‘Mechanical Turk‘…His realizations and transformations are often beyond imaginable but are generally meaningful.

OK, we’re a little biased as parents, but everyone who knows Aaron appreciates that his warm personality and human sensitivity are as genuine as his talents! Truly he is an amazing young man who has consistently made us more and more proud since his very first words many years ago!
